Multisectoral manual recently developed in DRC

L’équipe du cluster Nutrition de la République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) avec la participation et contribution des clusters Sécurité alimentaire, Santé et Eau, Hygiène et Assainissement vient de finaliser le « Manuel intersectoriel pour la réponse humanitaire pour les secteurs EHA, nutrition, santé, et sécurité alimentaire en République Démocratique du Congo ».

Ce manuel répond particulièrement aux besoins accrus de répondre de façon plus efficace et d’offrir des interventions de qualité à une population, qui depuis plus de 25 ans subit une succession de conflits armés, des multiples épidémies, de l’insécurité alimentaire, un accès à l’eau potable controversé causant une dégradation de la situation nutritionnelle du jeune enfant ; tout cela dans un contexte économique qui continue de se détériorer.

C’est dans ce contexte que les clusters en RDC ont choisi de mutualiser leurs efforts pour travailler ensemble tout au long du cycle de programmation humanitaire, et de développer une collaboration intersectorielle (connu sous l’acronyme ICSC en anglais : Inter-cluster/sector collaboration) pour livrer un paquet d’interventions multi-sectorielles, en même temps, aux mêmes endroits et aux mêmes populations affectées. Le caractère unique de l’approche intersectorielle en RDC repose sur des interventions ciblées par type de crise en identifiant un cluster lead et une liste d’interventions par chaque cluster qui interviendra dans la réponse. The team of the Nutrition cluster of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with the participation and contribution of the Food Security, Health and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation clusters has just finalized the "Intersectoral manual for the humanitarian response for the WASH, Nutrition, Health, and Food Security sectors in the Democratic Republic of Congo".

This manual responds to the increased need to respond more effectively and offer quality interventions to a population that has been suffering for more than 25 years from a succession of armed conflicts, multiple epidemics, food insecurity, controversial access to drinking water causing a deterioration in the nutritional situation of young children; all this in an economic context that continues to deteriorate.

It is in this context that the clusters in the DRC have chosen to pool their efforts to work together throughout the humanitarian programming cycle, and to develop intersectoral collaboration (known as ICSC: Inter-cluster/sector collaboration) to deliver a package of multi-sectoral interventions, at the same time, to the same places and to the same affected populations. The uniqueness of the intersectoral approach in the DRC is based on targeted interventions by type of crisis by identifying a lead cluster and a list of interventions by each cluster that will intervene in the response.
