We are the GNC
A holistic support platform that provides coordination, information management, and programming support to nutrition actors at all levels before, during, and after emergencies
GNC Coordination Team (GNC-CT)
The GNC-CT is the coordination support element of the GNC and provides leadership and stewardship for coordination and information management and functions as the secretariat for the Global Nutrition Cluster. The GNC-CT is staffed by UNICEF and housed within UNICEF EMOPS in Geneva. The GNC-CT is led by the Global Nutrition Cluster Coordinator and two deputies.
The GNC-CT represents the GNC partners in global fora and provides strategic leadership, global guidance and operational support to country nutrition clusters while linking stakeholders and ensuring timely information, knowledge sharing and effective communications.
The Programme Leadership Team (PLT)
The Programme Leadership Team (PLT) is responsible for the nutrition in emergencies technical programming of the GNC. The PLT provides overall leadership and strategic direction to the technical arm of the GNC and is the primary forum for decisions relating to the structure, function, and strategy of the Programme Team – all the support services in the GNC pertaining to nutrition in emergencies programmes. The PLT is co-chaired by UNICEF Programme Group and Save the Children, with representation from the GNC-CT, ACF-Canada, and Emergency Nutrition Network.
The Operations Team
The GNC Operations Team consists of several individuals who provide both virtual and in-country support to country nutrition clusters/sectors and partners. Support is provided by deployable programme advisors (ex. MAMI, CMAM), helpdesks, and the rapid response team which consists of cluster coordinators, information management officers and nutrition information system specialists. We also have a consultant roster with more than 200 NiE technical consultants across 60 countries who are able to provide further support, as needed and requested.
