GNC Support
The GNC is a holistic support platform that provides coordination, information management, and programming support to nutrition actors at all levels before, during, and after emergencies.

Coordination, IM and NIS/Assessment Support
When requested, remote or in-country support can be provided for one week and up to eight weeks to strengthen coordination, information management, and NIS and Assessments in emergency contexts and in countries at risk of fragility due to a humanitarian emergency. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) consists of seven experience professionals with the proven technical capacity and nutrition expertise to support countries in meeting the needs and priorities of at risk and crisis affected people. RRT members can provide dedicated surge capacity to any country office and are available within 72 hours (pending visa requirements), enabling a timely and coordinated nutrition response.

Programme Support
Looking for in-country or virtual programme support? GNC Advisors are ready to provide support in acute and protracted nutrition emergencies, as well as preparedness work. We have full-time Programme Advisors with expertise in Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E), social and behaviour change (SBC), Management of At-risk Mothers and Infants (MAMI) and nutrition assessments, and can draw on additional expertise in areas such as nutrition-sensitive programming, surveillance, stunting, adolescent and maternal nutrition, cash for nutrition, adult malnutrition, emergency preparedness, health system strengthening and micronutrient programming. Consultant Roster
Do you need additional support for your technical or coordination Nutrition in Emergency (NiE) activities? Placing a request for a technically vetted GNC consultant could increase efficiencies and reduce time wasted in searching for the right person to support emergency activities. The GNC currently has approximately 200 vetted consultants who provide technical support to actors working in NiE in preparedness, response, and recovery. Consultants come from 60 different countries around the world and speak 50 different languages including Arabic, Spanish, French, English, Kiswahili, and Urdu. UNICEF Stand-by Partnerships Agreements with NGOs
Specialists in cluster/sector working group coordination and information management and nutrition in emergencies to provide rapid, temporary in-country support for three to six months.
UNICEF (Cluster Lead Agency for the GNC), has signed a Standby Agreement with various external partners, including NGOs, Governments and private companies. The overall program is referred to as Standby Arrangements. The purpose of Standby Arrangements is to ensure the provision of additional support to UNICEF and UNICEF led clusters/Areas of Responsibility to enhance capacity and efficiency in responses to emergencies and humanitarian crisis. Various partners maintain either a varied pool of operational resources or specific niche expertise that can provide in country support at short notice. Management of the partnership and resources is done in advance, allowing for a timely and effective response to a sudden crisis, including support to protracted crisis and capacity gaps in smaller emergencies. Standby Arrangements are an effective example of the power of leveraging partnerships to support emergency response, to impact humanitarian action, and to achieve greater results for children. UNICEF’s Standby Arrangements are led by the Inter Agency and Humanitarian Partnerships Section (IA&HP) in the Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS) Geneva.
