Haiti-IYCF-E Policy workshop report

The implementation of key policies in IYCF-U is one of the key standards for the implementation of a quality response for infant and young child feeding in emergencies as defined in the Sphere Handbook, including its points on policy guidance and coordination (standard 4.1) as well as multisectoral support for infant and young child feeding (standard 4.2). During the training of trainers in IYCF-U at the national level in Haiti, which took place from 16 to 20 May, a self-assessment of IYCF-U capacities conducted by participants identified a gap in the development of key IYCF-U policies for Haiti. These are essentially the Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and the Operational Guidelines in IYCF-U. Thus, a three-day workshop was organized by the Coordination Unit of the National Food and Nutrition Program (UCPNANu) of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) from 14 to 17 June 2022, with funding from UNICEF and technical support from the Global Nutrition Cluster Technical Alliance (GNC) on the development of key infant and young child feeding policies in emergencies ( IYCF-U), including the Haitian Code for the International Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and the IYCF-U Operational Guidelines
