Message from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to all Permanent and Observer Missions and other International Organizations in New York and Geneva

We are pleased to share with you the first information update on the coordinated, inter-agency Global Humanitarian Response Plan for COVID-19 (GHRP) launched by the UN Secretary-General on 25 March. The GHRP is a global call for solidarity across the international community to help deliver life-saving assistance to millions of people around the world - particularly to the most vulnerable populations - at this unprecedented time.

As of 20 April, more than US$600 million has been made available against the $2.01 billion required by the GHRP, with additional resources being pledged and mobilized. Of this amount, US$163 million have been provided by the Central Emergency Response Fund and Country-Based Pooled Funds thanks to the generosity of donors who have contributed flexible and unearmarked funding.

For the most updated figures on funding for the GHRP, please see: https://fts.unocha.org/appeals/952/summary

This information update also includes details about pooled funds’ allocations and announcements, an overview on access and operations, and a focus on gender and COVID-19.

If you have any questions or comments concerning this update, please send them to ocha-ftrm@un.org.
