Between April and June 2023, 81 requests for support were submitted to the Alliance. Most requests (33%) were submitted from West and Central Africa region, followed by 19% from Eastern and Southern Africa. The 6 cross-cutting theme workstreams continued in this quarter. The first gender and nutrition in-country support was provided to Ethiopia in collaboration with the Emergency Nutrition Coordination Unit.
Three learning pieces were published in this quarter: A signposting document on IMAM/CMAM resources, a learning brief on the harmonization of CVA approaches in Nigeria and a piece on Intercluster/sector collaboration in Somalia. Three case study news pieces were published this quarter highlighting learning from Alliance supported work in Honduras, Burkina Faso and our work in support local and national actors.
The Global Thematic Working Groups (GTWG) continued to be active in the past quarter with 217 members. The guidance Nutritional care for Patients with Ebola Virus Disease in Ebola Treatment Units: FAQs, French version was finalized and the Wasting GTWG published a report exploring lessons learned from past experiences of updating national CMAM guidelines
In an effort to ensure that technical resources are available in multiple languages, the Alliance support translation of several resources in the past quarter:
- IFE Operational Guidance in Ukrainian and Turkish,
- Early initiation of breastfeeding during emergencies infographic (in Turkish)
- Preventing and managing inappropriate donations of breastmilk substitutes (BMS) infographic (in Turkish)
- Planning and managing artificial feeding interventions during emergencies infographic (in Arabic)
- Supporting infants dependent on artificial feeding during emergencies infographic (in Turkish & Arabic)
- Infant feeding during infectious disease outbreaks: a guide for policymakers infographic (in Arabic)
- MAMI materials, into French, which included the MAMI Global Network Strategy, Communications Guide and, MAMI membership 'promotional' video
