New GNC Helpdesk for Nutrition Information Systems

Núria Salse Ubach has joined the GNC Operational Support team as the new GNC Nutrition Information Systems (NIS) Helpdesk. She has more than 20 years’ experience in nutrition in developing countries, and holds Masters’ degrees in both Tropical Diseases and Primary Health Care.

Núria worked as Nutrition Advisor with Médecins Sans Frontières, Spain (MSF) supporting the organization in nutrition assessments (SMART surveys), policies and strategies to respond to nutrition crises. She was also the principal investigator on the effect of supplementation with RUTF or micronutrients for children after illness for prevention of malnutrition. Prior to MSF she worked as a nutrition consultant conducting external evaluations, nutritional studies (including Lipid Nutrition Supplements and Micronutrients Powder Acceptability tests and cross-sectional nutrition surveys) and technical assistance to several agencies including Action Against Hunger, Merlin, Emergency Nutrition Network, UNICEF, UNHCR, WFP, and MSF-Spain. Núria also held a nutrition technical advisory position at the headquarters of ACF-Spain. Most recently, she has worked with La Cooperativa Humanitaria where she developed and tested different Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) training packages for international organizations. 

During her career, Núria has responded to numerous humanitarian emergencies in Africa, Asia, and the Latin America. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
