Message on behalf of Alice Armanni Sequi, Chief of OCHA Pooled Fund Management Branch

I am writing to formally share with you the updated CERF Life-Saving Criteria, approved by the Emergency Relief Coordinator. As many of you know, the previous version of the Life-Saving Criteria had been drafted in 2009. The recent updating has been critical in ensuring that CERF continues to adapt to the evolving humanitarian landscape. Accordingly, we have refined the document to reflect lessons learned, best practices, policies, terminology, and agreements elaborated over the last decade - while preserving CERF’s core life-saving mandate. The update does not significantly change the range of CERF-eligible activities.

We would like to thank you for so actively and constructively engaging in this process. Your inputs, along with those of key stakeholders such UN agencies, subject matter experts and the CERF Advisory Group, have been invaluable.

The updated Life-Saving Criteria will take effect immediately and will be used by the CERF Secretariat to assess applications for CERF funding. We would be grateful if you could disseminate these within your organization.

Please do let the CERF team and I know if you have any questions or concerns. Questions and comments can be addressed to Michael Jensen (jensen7@un.org), the Chief of the CERF secretariat.
