Where We Work

The Global Nutrition Cluster provides support to both formally activated country Nutrition Clusters as well as other nutrition sector humanitarian coordination groups.

Nutrition Clusters have been set up at field level in a large number of countries experiencing humanitarian crises. Nutrition Clusters at the country level are crucial networks that coordinate nutrition in emergencies work, bringing partners together to ensure priority needs are identified and met. Clusters at the country level are essential for information sharing and knowledge management, advocacy and resource mobilization and provide technical support to organizations implementing Nutrition programmes in extremely challenging contexts.

To date, there have been over 30 Nutrition Clusters formally activated at the country level. Clusters have a limited lifespan, only active for the period of humanitarian crises. As a result, the number of active and dormant clusters fluctuates over time. Some countries do not formally implement the Cluster Approach, but have cluster-like coordination mechanisms, often called Nutrition Working Groups, which perform many of the same functions.
