Message from the GNC Coordinator

Categories: News / No CommentsPosted on: January 24, 2014

“It is has been exactly one week since we lost Basra Hassan in the Kabul restaurant attack, with the others who perished in the same attack. Basra’s body is en-route to Michigan and she will be received by her family tomorrow at around 2 pm US time. She will then be laid to rest on Sunday or Monday (as per the information I received from her sister Amina).

We at the GNC, have been overwhelmed with the kind words we received from you all and as promised, we have compiled them all in the document to be send to Basra’s family. Given the number of emails received, it is quite possible that a few of the messages might have been accidentally omitted for which we apologize.

We also prepared the attached special tribute, with stories from a number of us who have had special moments or a close working relationship with Basra and we encourage you to read this when you have a moment, as a way of saying farewell to our beloved Barra Hassan. This has also been shared with Basra’s family.

Also attached is the GNC Update, Issue No III, for the months of November 2013 to January 2014, in which we also paid a short tribute to Basra and Nasreen.
