Do you want to play a key role in an organisation which stands up for children? Then join us as our Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor, working as our deployable Technical Rapid Response Team (TRRT) IYCF-E advisor and a Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor based in London.

In our Humanitarian department, we fight for children every single day. We integrate emergency and development work, through our country programmes. We increase our global capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. We go the extra mile – and we don’t rest until the work is done.

As the Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor, you will be a member of the Technical Rapid Response Team, the Save the Children Emergency Nutrition Group (ENWG), and the SCUK’s Humanitarian Public Health Team. For approximately 50% of the time, you will be the lead IYCFE Advisor to be deployed by the TRRT mechanism and will contribute the remaining 50% of their time to supporting the research and capacity building priorities of the ENWG. In addition you will:

  • Deploy under the TRRT mechanism to provide senior leadership and be responsible for improving the delivery of IYCF-E responses in rapid onset and protracted emergencies globally, through in country deployments to governments, nutrition clusters, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC), and local and international non-government organisations.
  • Provide technical support to the ENWG’s operational research projects in Country Offices, including in-country and remote support
  • Contribute to the design and roll out of SC’s humanitarian nutrition capacity building initiatives

To be successful you will be a Nutrition professional with a post graduate qualification in a relevant subject, Master of Public Health, Nutrition or have equivalent field experience. As well as strong communication skills (both written and verbal) you will be motivated by working with Governments, national and international partners to increase the timeliness and quality of humanitarian nutrition responses globally. In addition you will have:

  • Field experience in several, diverse acute emergencies as well as protracted crisis settings
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and leading IYCF-E assessments and capacity in delivering high quality training in IYCF-E
  • Highly developed writing skills, both at a programmatic level and a policy level
  • Strong skills in coordination and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including nutrition clusters, partners and the Ministry of Health
  • The ability to travel at short notice, to potentially remote and insecure locations.

Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in French is highly desirable and knowledge of another language (Arabic, Spanish) is an asset.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

If you share our belief in the power of children, join the fight. It takes relentless determination, creativity and a real commitment to real change. Because every child should be able to make their mark on their world, and help to build a better future. We look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date: 25th March 2019
